Scope and Content Note

Series consists of records related to security operations of the 1980 Winter Olympics, which were held at Lake Placid, New York. The Division of Law Enforcement of the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) worked in conjunction with the New York State Police to provide security. The records include reports, manuals, maps of the area, security plans, budget files, emergency disaster plans, search and rescue procedures, communications plans, personnel assignments and slides used in security briefings. The majority of the records were used and/or accumulated by Division of Law Enforcement Assistant Director George G. Firth.
