Scope and Content Note

The series consists of reports submitted to the department according to Executive Orders No. 40 of 1976, No. 40.1 of 1980, and No. 6 of 1983, which require agencies to periodically report on their activities to meet the state's affirmative action and equal employment opportunity goals. The Division of Diversity Planning and Management and its predecessors have received these reports since the 1970s.

Typical reports are 8-10 pages in length and describe recent and intended future activities in agencies to meet state goals, including hiring actions taken or planned to achieve parity in numbers of protected class members. These narrative reports do not duplicate the types of information found in the division's quarterly workforce diversity reports or in the APPS database from which those reports are prepared.

Not all agencies consistently meet their reporting requirements; in recent years, as many as 20% of agencies have failed to submit required annual reports to Civil Service.
