Administrative History

Under provisions of Article 26-A of the General Business Law (Chapter 728 of Laws of 1964) the attorney general is empowered to review and approve the offering literature and financial reports of legitimate theater productions, which are typically financed through the sale of limited partnership interests. In addition, the attorney general has the authority to prosecute alleged violations of this "Theatrical Syndication Financing Act" in order to "safeguard theatrical investors as well as to maintain the well being of the legitimate theater."
