This series consists of the edited manuscript/typescript of Dutch colonial records published by the New York State Library as volumes 2-4 of the early Records of the City and County of Albany and Colony of Rensselaerswyck (History Bulletins 9-11).
These volumes were edited by A. J. F. Van Laer, Archivist with the State Library and later Division of Archives and History, from translations prepared by Jonathan Pearson nearly fifty years previously. Volume 1 was published in 1869 under Pearson's direction. These records show the changes made by Van Laer in Pearson's translations. The records printed in these volumes are: Volume 2 - Deeds, 1678-1704; Volume 3 - Notarial Papers, 1660-1696; and Volume 4 - Mortgages, 1658-1660 and Wills, 1681-1765.
