This series consists of correspondence from the Commissioner of the Conservation Commission to the Commissioners of the Land Office relating to proposals (#1-250) for the purchase of forest lands for state parks. Most of the correspondence is concerned with the acquisition of land for the Adirondack and Catskill Forest Preserves. Some of the correspondence contains memoranda such as maps, vouchers, survey notes, etc.
The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
