Scope and Content Note
This series consists of 13 volumes of minute books compiled by the Council of Appointment between 1786 and 1822. The minute books record the date and place of each council meeting, the names of the members present, and appointments made by the council (name and office). The minutes for each meeting conclude with the signatures of every council member present. The first two volumes contain both civil and military appointments. Volumes 3-13 contain minutes pertaining to just civil or military appointments. Each volume has its own index arranged by county and then type of office.
