Scope and Content Note

This series contains correspondence, press releases, texts of radio programs and announcements, newspaper clippings, instruction manuals, statistical reports, vouchers, bank books, check stubs, cancelled checks, fliers, posters, and two maps relating to New York State's participation in the Victory Book Campaign during World War II.

These records relate to the acquisition, shipping, and distribution of books; publicity for the program; compilation of program statistics; and American finances. Most of these records are correspondence to and from Dr. Frank L. Tolman, Director of the Division of Adult Education and Library Extension (1937-1946) and Director of the Victory Book Campaign in New York State, and Jed H. Taylor, State Supervisor of the Library Extension and Assistance Project of the Federal Works Progress Admininstration, pertaining to the administrative details of conducting the Campaign in New York State.
