Scope and Content Note

A3266-88: This accretion consists of translations and transcriptions of records of the government of New Netherland created by A.J.F Van Laer. Records translated and transcribed include the Register of the Provincial Secretary and Council Minutes. These records were created for the publication of New York Colonial Manuscripts. Typescript transcriptions, circa 1910-1918, include volume 1, Register of the Provincial Secretary, pages 95-143 (original volume was destroyed in Capitol fire of 1911), volumes 2 and 3 of the Register, and volume 4, Council Minutes. Translations, dated 1939, include the same volumes. Microfilm rolls contain typescript transcriptions of volumes 1-4, Register of Provincial Secretary, and a typescript translation of the surviving pages of volume 1, all by A.J.F. Van Laer and dated 1939.

A3266-88A: Translation was made by Edmund B. O'Callaghan, circa 1850. It consists of volume 10, Council Minutes, December 31, 1663, through the end of 1664. The translation of Council Minutes, volume 10, prior to December 31, 1663, was destroyed in the Capitol fire.
