Administrative History

A.J.F. Van Laer headed the manuscript division of the New York State Library from 1899 to 1915. In 1915 he moved to the State Education Department's Division of Archives and History, where he remained until his retirement in 1939.

The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
