This series contains seven booklets: four annual reports of the New York State War Council, two directories of war agencies, and a report from the War Council's predecessor, the Council of Defense.
The War Council's annual reports and the Council of Defense's report were assembled and circulated in order to inform all concerned parties of the war work undertaken by the many agencies which comprised the War Council. They explain the organization's divisions and the divisions' responsibilities and programs and list senior personnel. The directories list federal, state, and "semi-official" agencies involved in war work, their functions, local and headquarters' addresses, and senior personnel.
The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
