This series contains clippings collected by the Office of Civilian Mobilization (OCM) documenting the activities of local war councils in home front programs. In addition to OCM activities, civil defense work is also documented, and sometimes the communities' war-related activities such as war plant production.
Typical subjects found in this series include: Block Plan (in which volunteers promoted OCM activities in their neighborhoods); child care; civil defense; farm labor; first aid; nursing; nutrition; salvage; volunteer recruitment; war training; and women's volunteer activities.
