Scope and Content Note

These applications were submitted by private business colleges to receive approval for their courses not registered by the State and veteran's training courses.

Private business school application files: contain the following: application for approval of a school; field reports of visits to schools, giving a narrative description of the school's history, facilities and equipment, enrollment, tuition rates, faculty, graduation requirements, and recommendation of visitor regarding registration; correspondence and memoranda regarding approval or disapproval of the school and of specific courses for veterans' training; copies of catalogs and other publications of the school; and some files containing copies of bonds on schools.

Veterans training courses application files: contain the following: application for approval to train veterans, giving information on the school's ownership, facilities, equipment, records, policies, regulations, administrative and supervisory procedures, finances, and registration; supplemental application for approval of course of study to train veterans; field reports; correspondence with schools and U.S. Veterans Administration concerning approval of courses and tuition rates; and copies of catalogs and other promotional material and administrative forms used by the school. At the end of this subseries is miscellaneous correspondence from schools seeking registration and complaints received about business schools.
