The series consists of memoranda, correspondence, inventories and descriptions, and related files pertaining to the retention and disposition of historical records from executive branch state agencies. The bulk of material relates to records transfers, but there is a small amount of information on retention policy and general instructions.
The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
