Scope and Content Note

The series consists of ledgers providing dates, value, and quantity information on "stock" goods received, stored on-hand, or issued during 1894-1914 at the Syracuse State Institution for Feeble-Mined Children. There are no apparent entries for August 1895 - November 1897, April 1904 - February 1905, or August 1911- September 1913. Entries are by product, and then chronological by date (month/day). A brief note at the start of the first volume indicates that "stock" is categorized as provisions; household goods; fuel and light; hospital and medical; shop, farm, and garden; and miscellaneous. However, no dividers or tabs indicate such categories in the volumes.

Volume format is consistent throughout. For goods received, there is information on date (month/day), receiving book folio (page number), value, and quantity. For goods available on-hand, date and quantity are shown. For goods issued, information includes date, quantity, and issuing book folio (page number).

Alphabetical product indexes are at the fore of Volumes 2 and 3. The index lists alphabetical items separately under the headings "O," "U," "Y," "A," "E," and "I." These letters may correspond to specific volumes in the series, but there is no key to associate a letter to a place or with a volume. Worn or broken bindings carry no titles.
