The series consists primarily of illustrations used in various New York State Museum publications on geological and paleontological subjects. Items include plates from State Museum Memoir 14 "Eurypterida," photographs of the reconstruction of the Cohoes Mastodont, cross sections of geological data from Museum "Guide Book No. 1," wash drawings of the "Orthothecid Cephalopod" printed in Bulleting No. 272, and other illustrations.
Multiple copies of some lithographs are present. Other items include a poetic tribute to professor James Hall (State Paleontologist and director of the State Museum) on his 86th birthday, and a geologic map of New York (1901).
