In February 2002 the New York State Department of Transportation Map Information Unit was discontinued, and its staff and services transferred to the New York State Office for Technology. At that time older, non-current but archival copies of various series of maps were transferred to the Archives. The maps included in this series, series B1804 Highway corridor maps, and series B1807 Village/ hamlet atlases were accessioned under RDA 20986.
The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
